Everyone, there has been some people interested in finding a tutor to help their student with various subjects here at school. Please refer to the NEWS section, the information provided for Dakota Dreams On-line Tutoring service. This is a free service that will put your student in touch with a college student who is pursuing a degree in education. Your student will be able to get in touch, one-on-one, with a live person. Again, this service is absolutely free to anyone wishing to use it. Mr. Hawkins

This week’s Farmlife Creamery Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball play, Maddy Bartscher. Maddy fought hard in the Rustler’s close loss to the MVP Titans. She tallied 34 assists, 3 kills, 14 digs, and 1 ace. When asked about how she stays positive and pushes her team through the tough times she said, “Encouragement. When someone is down, encouraging the team as a whole helps keep us motivated!”. The Rustlers are off to 5-5 start, Maddy said, “Practices are always fun. We try our best to keep the environment lighthearted and upbeat, which I feel makes us practice harder while still having a good time.” After missing two seasons due to an ACL injury, it’s been wonderful to welcome Bartscher back to the court. You can catch Maddy Bartscher and the Rustlers in Action Thursday in Corsica as they take on the Jaguars of Corsica/Stickney.

This weeks Farmlife Creamery Athlete of the week is Junior, Ethan-Parkston Cross Country runner, Ella Pollreisz. Ella finished 43 of 334 at the Augustana Twilight meet on Friday night. She finished with a time of 20:21.98 placing her in the top 50. At the Canton Meet on 9/5 Ella improved her time to 20:16.00 to earn her 5th place overall! When asked about how she pushes through on the hard days, Ella said, “When things get challenging, the things that help me get through these moments would be thinking about how many people are proud of me and how I just need to stay dedicated and remember why I joined the team.” Ella has had a wonderful season so far running a consistent time around 20:15.00. We look forward to watching her improve this season and being strong competitor for the Ethan – Parkston Minotaurs. Her advice for younger students thinking about cross country, “The advice that I would give to someone thinking about joining cross country would be to definitely join and just try it out, and if they don't enjoy it as much as they thought they would, they could always join another sport, or maybe just try it out again because it definitely isn't the sport for everyone!” Ella and the Minotaurs will be running Saturday in the 2023 Heartland Preview at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls!

This week’s Farm Life Creamery athlete of the week is senior, Drake Gustafson. In his first year of quarterbacking for the Seahawks, Gustafson completed 5 of 7 passes for 107 yards and 2 total TDs. On defense Gustafson tallied 6 tackles, 1 interception and 2 pass break-ups to help lead the Seahawks to a 36-2 victory over the Flandreau Fliers in week 2. Gustafson said, “I'm looking forward to having a fun and successful senior year and playing with my friends.” When asked about what keeps him motivated when things get hard, he said, “What motivates me to get better through the tough times is thinking about the kids that are unable to play the sport they love because something is holding them back. God gave me the ability to play a sport that others don't have the chance to.” Gustafson’s efforts have helped the Seahawks jump out to a 2-0 start for the year. You can catch Drake Gustafson and the Seahawks in action Friday night in Clark.
This week’s nominees included Marissa Storm and Ella Pollreisz.
