Ava’s impressive performance at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament made the difference for the Rustlers finishing 2nd in the tournament. In the tournament, Lingemann had 4 aces and 1 block. Her impressive 57 digs and 64 kills is what made her stand out this week. When asked about what her favorite memory from this season is so far she said, “So far would definitely have to be singing and telling stories on the bus rides home from away games!”. In the season Ava has been leading the Rustlers with kills and finishing in the top with digs. “Our ability to pick each other up encourage each other after a mistake or a bad game is what makes me most proud of this team.” This has been evident as the Rustlers are showing great promise for a wonderful season sitting at 10-6, battling some tough competition.
Ava’s advice for younger players is this, “Respect and listen to your coaches, and watch the varsity games with a purpose - you can learn a ton!” If you’d like to watch Ava and the Rustlers your next opportunity is this weekend in the Pentagon Tournament in Sioux Falls. The Rustlers kick off the day looking for revenge on a tough MVP Titan team at 8 AM. The Rustlers will be home next Tuesday as they take on the B-E Huskies.

Everyone, there has been some people interested in finding a tutor to help their student with various subjects here at school. Please refer to the NEWS section, the information provided for Dakota Dreams On-line Tutoring service. This is a free service that will put your student in touch with a college student who is pursuing a degree in education. Your student will be able to get in touch, one-on-one, with a live person. Again, this service is absolutely free to anyone wishing to use it. Mr. Hawkins

This week’s Farmlife Creamery Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball play, Maddy Bartscher. Maddy fought hard in the Rustler’s close loss to the MVP Titans. She tallied 34 assists, 3 kills, 14 digs, and 1 ace. When asked about how she stays positive and pushes her team through the tough times she said, “Encouragement. When someone is down, encouraging the team as a whole helps keep us motivated!”. The Rustlers are off to 5-5 start, Maddy said, “Practices are always fun. We try our best to keep the environment lighthearted and upbeat, which I feel makes us practice harder while still having a good time.” After missing two seasons due to an ACL injury, it’s been wonderful to welcome Bartscher back to the court. You can catch Maddy Bartscher and the Rustlers in Action Thursday in Corsica as they take on the Jaguars of Corsica/Stickney.
